Canyon Creek: Master Bedroom Suite

As we're wrapping up our Project Canyon Creek, we're getting a glimpse inside the Master Suite with no detail skipped over. We wanted this home to have some character, yet still feel fresh and modern. This project may be our most dramatic before and after of any home we've ever done. What started as a very 90's southwest style home is now feeling much more modern English cottage. It's appropriate for this family with older kids, and perfect to help transition our clients to becoming empty nesters. We've taken you through the kitchen, family room, loft area, kids bedrooms, laundry and mud rooms, and it's officially time to wrap this project up.

Originally, there were three small windows above the bed in this space. We immediately deleted those to create a better focal point with this statement making wall. The intricate mill work painted in Dunn Edwards White in a satin finish makes this spacious Master Suite feel both more interesting, and more cozy with its added texture across the walls. We went with an upholstered winged bed (which I love because it keeps your pillows in place!) in a timeless neutral gray with nailhead detail. The height of the headboard helped to fill the space without overwhelming it. In lieu of a footboard, we opted for a leather padded bench with steel legs in a more industrial style. I love how the two compliment each other without feeling too feminine.

On either side of the bed, we sourced large nightstands that feature both closed storage in two drawers and well as open display space for adding some personality and keeping nighttime reading close by. One of my favorite features of these nightstands is the pull out shelf that gives you extra room for water or reading glasses, without having to make space on the surface. Literally a designers dream 💞.

Above each nightstand we hung oversized landscapes in the prettiest color palette. They're accentuated by the beautiful millwork and do a great job bringing some balance and scale to the space. Topped off with some of my favorite Kelly Wearstler lamps, the styling of these bedside tables may be some of my favorites we've ever done!

The color palette in this master suite is calming and neutral, but we wanted to bring our signature LW touch of color in. The vintage inspired area rug in its dusty blue sits beautifully on the white oak floors. We picked up the same soft blue tones in the custom roman shades which really help to draw your eye up, while providing our clients privacy and darkness while they sleep. On the bed, a combination of LW Home pillows pair a soft heather purple with a chambray blue for a perfectly balanced palette.

In the Master Bathroom, we went BOLD. We went with a grey grasscloth wall covering that instantly elevated the space. The two custom vanities are topped with a black granite that added the perfect amount of contrast. Wanting to keep things feeling a bit more luxe in this space, we opted for minimal black mirrors and hanging pendants that paired a matte black finish with glimmering brass details. We picked the brass back up in the plumbing fixtures and contrasted those with black cabinetry hardware. Just between the two vanities is the most luxurious black bathtub that feels like it's right out of a chic Parisian hotel. Framed perfectly with a massive window above it, there is no better way to treat yourself at the end of the day!

But the true showstopper of this bathroom is the shower. Deep blue tile laid in a herringbone pattern add an unexpected edge to this space. We stuck with the brass plumbing fixtures which sparkle beautifully against the blue. The custom shower is nothing short of a spa, including marble trimmed wall niches and anti-slip marble penny tile on the floor.
