My Summer Favorites

Hey everyone! Today's blog post is a bit of a departure from our usual content. Consider this me dipping my toe in lifestyle content. Today, I'm roleplaying as a lifestyle blogger and sharing my top picks for summer. We have a long list ahead. I am sharing my summer home finds, fashion favorites, sunscreens, and beach reads. As we dive into my favorites, you might notice how the colors and styles match my interior design style. Call me predictable, but hey, I like what I like!

Let's start with what I know best. Home finds.

First, we have the Dakota Bamboo Melamine Dinner Plates in White, coming in a set of four. I love how they resemble a handmade ceramic piece in their (intentional) imperfections. The material of these plates is bamboo melamine which is similar to earth ware. This gives that handmade look that is so popular right now. These plates are adorable for summer. I loveee the plates, but the whole dinner collection stunning. They are perfect for those summer, pool side dinners.

Placemats are extremely underrated. My favorite for summer? The Klatso Handwoven Placemats. I prefer the color "Neutral" but they have a cute green color on the site right now too!

What's a product you don't need but will make your life better once you have it? The Bombay Pitcher and Glasses Set of 4. I never fail to get a compliment when I whip them out. Whether you're hosting guests, looking to improve the aesthetics of your fridge, or have some poolside lemonade, you want this adorable pitcher with the matching glasses.

While we are poolside, check out this adorable towel. The Aqua Daisy Pool Towel from Craehome is one I find myself grabbing the most. I love a big towel and this one is 3.5 ft x 6 ft which is perfect for me. My daughter asks to borrow it all the time and that's how I know it's a good one (lol)!

Finally, we have my current favorite (insulated!) lunch box. It's CALPAK but I bought it off of Anthropologie. I am just obsessed with it. I love it for a roadtrip or having it poolside. Once you have an insulated lunch box that is as cute as this one, you'll never go back.

The BEST Water Bottle

If you know me, you know I always have multiple beverages on hand. While Stanleys are great for my fun drinks (like Diet Dr. Pepper), Owala water bottles are my top choice for hydration. With a range of colors and sizes, the 40 oz. bottle is perfect for hitting my hydration goals, and the 32 oz. is ideal for travel. The secure lid prevents leaks, making it easy to toss in a bag without worries. My favorite colorway is the chic green one (Alpine Sport). Here is the Amazon link. Target has it the Alpine Sport color but only in the 24oz.

Cover Ups

Now, fashion may not be my expertise, but I do love to shop. With my expertise established, let's get into the summer pieces you'll find me wearing again and again.

Back at Anthropologie, you can find my favorite cover up set. Here are the links to the top and shorts. I own the red one and I love this for throwing over my suit. It's super lightweight, breathable, and I love the eyelet details. This is the perfect cover up option if you're not a huge dress or skirt wearer!

For a "fancier" cover up I love the Peixoto Embroidered Lace Cover-Up Mini Dress. The cutouts and details are adorable and I love the puffy sleeves. The material is super lightweight and I love how easy it is to throw on.

My other favorite dress style cover up to throw my swimsuit is the Barcelona Dress by LSPACE. I got mine on Revolve. This dress can easily be styled to run errands or go out to eat. I love me some versatility!

Next up, this stunning cream skirt by STAUD+. Their St Malo Skirt is so flattering and a must for those super hot beach days.

Shoes. More importantly, sandals. Struggling to find a sandal you really love? Here are some of mine.

I love a simple sandal and one of my favorites are the Soya Platform Sandal by Dolce Vita. I purchased them from Nordstrom, and let me tell you, the black colorway has become my go-to summer shoe. Not only are they incredibly comfortable with great arch support, but they're also incredibly versatile—perfect for dressing up or down. If I could only take one sandal on a trip, it would be these. Plus, that slight platform gives me a little boost of confidence while still being easy to walk in. And can we talk about those buckles? Love. Trust me, these sandals are a staple you'll reach for again and again! They are so good I just bought them in white too!:)

Now, while we're still at Nordstrom, let's take a look at the woven slide sandals by Sam Edelman. Now, I know this style of slide is not everyone's cup of tea, but hear me out—these are it. Effortlessly chic and oh-so-versatile, the Bambi Woven Slide Sandal is the epitome of easy summer style. Whether I'm running errands, on vacation, or just elevating a casual ensemble, these beauties have got me covered. With their stylish woven design and classy buckle detail, they're the perfect transitional shoe from spring to summer. Trust me, once you slip into these, you'll never want to take them off!

Last, but not least: the Bibi Lou Puffy Holly Sandal. The name might be a mouthful, but these sandals are an absolute delight. I personally own them in cream, but they come in four other fabulous colors and patterns! Now, what sets these beauties apart? That puffy look, my friend. Slip your feet into these, and you'll feel like you're walking on clouds—they're that comfy! A playful twist on the classic H-strap sandal, these stunners boast a unique woven design that adds a touch of whimsy to any ensemble. Pair them with your favorite sundress, and you've got yourself the perfect summer look.

My Favorite Summer Hats

If you're familiar with my style, you'll know I have a soft spot for a chic hat that adds flair to any outfit. In the summer, they're not just about fashion—they're essential for shielding against that blazing Arizona sun. Over the years, I've had plenty of favorites, but I recently discovered a new must-have. Allow me to introduce you to the Sherman Hat by Janessa Leoné. This structured fedora-style piece, crafted from woven straw, boasts a flawless cream hue and a sleek band detail. Spotting me outdoors this summer? Just look for this hat—it's practically become my trademark accessory. Plus, its versatile neutral tone pairs seamlessly with all my summer looks.

The Felix Bucket Hat is a smart addition to any summer ensemble, offering both style and practicality. Its wide brim provides ample shade, ensuring your face and neck stay shielded from the intense desert sun. Crafted with Janessa Leone's signature attention to detail, it's not just functional—it's fashion-forward. The Felix's relaxed silhouette adds a touch of laid-back charm to any outfit, whether you're lounging poolside or on a beach vacation. With its durable construction and timeless design, the Felix Bucket Hat is sure to become another staple in your summer wardrobe rotation.

I am obsessed with baseball caps. I love pairing a nice pair of jeans, a white tee, a blazer, and a cap for an effortlessly chic look. The Annie Bing Jeremy Embroidered Logo Baseball Cap stands out in my collection. Its intricate embroidery adds elegance, making it a versatile accessory that enhances both casual and semi-formal outfits. The quality fabric and adjustable strap ensure a comfortable fit, making it perfect for any occasion. This cap is a must-have for anyone looking to blend fashion with functionality.

Alright, let's talk skin protection. After years of sweating it out in the Arizona desert, I've become a sunscreen connoisseur. Trust me, when you've faced 115-degree days like they're just another Tuesday in August, you learn a thing or two about sun protection. So, let me share my top four summer sunscreen essentials, tried and tested in the scorching desert heat.

First up, your classic cream sunscreen. This goes underneath your makeup. For those seeking a bit more oomph, I highly recommend EltaMD UV Clear Broad-Spectrum SPF 46. Formulated with 5% Niacinamide (Vitamin B3), it not only shields your skin from the sun but also tackles redness and discoloration. Talk about a win-win!

Next in line is Supergoop. Specifically, I swear by their Unseen Sunscreen. Weightless, invisible, and without that typical sunscreen smell—it's a game-changer. This also goes underneath makeup. For on-the-go touch-ups, Supergoop's (Re)setting Refreshing Mist is a lifesaver. Designed to be applied over makeup, it offers a refreshing mist while keeping your skin protected. It's one of those products that you can't believe you ever lived without—it's pure genius.

Last but certainly not least, we have mineral powder sunscreen. Yes, you read that right. The Sunforgettable® Total Protection® Brush-On Shield is SPF-formulated, allowing for easy reapplication over makeup. With the refreshing mist and mineral powder in your arsenal, nothing can stop you from keeping your skin protected, even with a full face of makeup on. Take that, summer heat!

Summer Reads

Let's dive into some summer reads!

Someone Else's Shoes by Jojo Moyes. This book takes you on a journey through the lives of two women, and let me tell you, it's a ride you won't forget. Moyes has this incredible way of making her characters feel like old friends, and as their stories unfold, you'll find yourself laughing, crying, and everything in between. I love books like these. The lessons learned from this book have stuck with be longer after I finished it. So, if you're looking for a captivating read to dive into this summer, trust me, this one's a winner!

Just for the Summer by Abby Jimenez. Alright, let's talk about 'Just for the Summer' by Abby Jimenez. It's a classic summer romance that's equal parts heartwarming and steamy. Jimenez knows how to craft characters you'll root for, and this book is no exception. It's the perfect beach read, guaranteed to keep you entertained all summer long. So, if you're in the mood for a feel-good romance that'll whisk you away, 'Just for the Summer' is the one to pick up!

Funny Story by Emily Henry. I have this uploaded to my Kindle to read on my trip to Wyoming. I love all of Emily Henry's books so I am so excited to read this while I relax in the mountains.

As the new season rolls in, it's time to think about those must-have products. Sure, interior design is my jam, but hey, good taste knows no bounds, right? I like to think my knack for style seeps into every aspect of life—whether it's fashion, decor, or the best restaurants.
